Delicious Ironies from Clocked Out (Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold) with Lindsay Vickery and the celebration of the planting of our woodlot piano.
Clocked Out welcomes Perth composer and reed instrument specialist Lindsay Vickery to Cooroora Institute. Reuniting for this unique collaboration, Clocked Out and Vickery use clarinet, piano, toys, percussion and electronics to explore realtime graphic-based musical scores and site-specific improvisation.
Lindsay Vickery is a prolific composer/performer who has worked across Europe, the USA and Asia since 1986. His output includes works for acoustic and electronic instruments in interactive-electronic, improvised or fully notated settings. His music has been described as 'always intriguing' The Wire, 'truly an original voice and his work is one of sustained intensity that resonates in the mind long after the performance is over' and a 'master of technological wizardry' The Australian.
All 2018 Cooroora Institute students, teachers, and volunteers are free and don't need to book - just come along and celebrate.
Note: This is an outdoor site with walking involved along unpaved areas. Parking is across the road from the main studios and walk is about 1km return including small steep areas through our woodlot to the planted piano and then back to the covered performance space. Performance space includes heavy machinery, high areas, and open waters, so careful supervision of children is required. We become part of the flow of the places we inhabit through such access to the natural world and its climate.
